Discount Codes

Discount codes are the primary way SweetRep tracks which ambassador drove a sale.

How codes are generated

When an ambassador is approved and assigned to a campaign, SweetRep automatically creates a unique discount code in your Shopify store. The code is typically based on the ambassador's name (e.g. SARAH10).

How attribution works

An ambassador shares their discount code with their audience.
A customer uses the code at checkout on your Shopify store.
Shopify applies the discount and records the code on the order.
SweetRep syncs the order and attributes it to the ambassador who owns that code.
A commission is calculated based on the campaign's commission rate.

Note

Attribution is tied to the discount code, not to the customer. If a customer uses a different code on a future order, that order is attributed to whichever ambassador owns the new code.

Code format

Codes follow the format set in your campaign. They're automatically synced to Shopify as price rules with the discount percentage defined in the campaign.

Viewing codes

You can see each ambassador's discount code in:

The Ambassadors list (code column).
The ambassador's detail page.

Ambassadors can also see their own code in their dashboard.

Code limitations

Each ambassador gets one code per campaign.
Codes are unique across your Shopify store.
If a code conflicts with an existing Shopify discount, SweetRep will append random characters to ensure uniqueness.
